A: Yes. Visit the Resources section on this page, or send us an email: Symantec_scholarship@symantec.com
A: No. In fact, it is possible that none of the Symantec Software Scholarship winners are also state science fair winners. But wouldn’t it be cool to win both?
A: No, but you must have software that you have written as part of your project in some way. It is of course a Symantec Software Scholarship, and is awarded based on the software component(s) build by the student in their project. Of course, it won’t hurt your chances of winning if the software you write plays an important role in your project.
A: Absolutely. Software is everywhere. It does not need to be software on a traditional desktop or laptop computer to qualify.
A: There are many books available that teach beginning programming. Try the library, bookstore, or the Internet.
A: Only if your solution includes the creative use of computer software. Else, enjoy your Nobel Prize.
A: Yes. If a team of students wins the award, the money is then split evenly among them.
A: The money is held in a trust fund. Students first pay for any college or university expenses. Then they can submit reimbursement requests to the trust fund holder for payment of school-related expenses. The funds are available until either the awarded amount runs out or the student reaches 25 years of age, whichever comes first.
A: Tuition, text books and school fees. Sorry, no Xbox upgrades or day passes to Snowbird.
A: Any accredited two-or four-year college or university within the state of Utah.
A: Symantec’s goal is to encourage as many students to pursue education in math and science. As long as your educational plans are in that realm, then the scholarship is wide open for you.
A: Because Utah rocks! And because these funds are to encourage Utah students to pursue math, science, and software careers within the state of Utah.
A: No. Symantec’s goal is to encourage as many students to pursue education in math and science, so previous winners of the scholarship will not be eligible to win again.p>
A: That's up to your parents. We suggest that you mention the $10K prize though, as it might help open a door for negotiation.
